Dorte Mandrup featured in MAXXI’s Buone Nuove Exhibition
Dorte Mandrup and the studio are featured in the new exhibition ‘Buone Nuove: Donne in architettura’ (Good News: Women in Architecture) at The National Museum of XXI Century Arts (MAXXI) in Rome. Open until September 11, 2022.
The exhibition brings together the groundbreaking works of women architects who have contributed significantly to growth and innovation in the architecture industry across the globe and throughout history. From iconic historical figures such as Charlotte Perriand, Eileen Gray and Lina Bo Bardi to the women of contemporary architecture challenging the male dominated profession like Elizabeth Diller, Kazuyo Sejima, Jeanne Gang, and Grafton Architect.
‘Boune Nuove’ highlights the growing liberation from the prejudice and habits that often hold back the success of women in architecture as well the imperative role gender equality plays in our ability to respond to the current challenges, including environmental sensitivity, inclusiveness, and social sustainability. Representing our contribution to this trajectory is a large, sensuous installation of Ilulissat Icefjord Centre in Greenland which allows visitors to experience the magnificent conditions of the Arctic and the daunting feeling of infinite space. The Icefjord Centre opened last year.
